Tagging & Pricing Guidelines Supplies: You will need the following items to tag your items for the sale. Remember that all items need to be tagged correctly in order to sell. - Safety Pins: Please use only the silver ones, as the gold ones tend to open and tags (items) could get lost. You can find boxes of 200 at the Dollar Tree and at Target.
- Clear Mailing Tape: This is used to seal bags, label items, seal boxes, group items on hangers, etc… . This can be found at the dollar store and other discount stores.
- Large Ziploc bags: These are used for grouping smaller items, for placing shoes together, etc… . There are many ways in which these come in handy while preparing your items.
- A Black Sharpie Marker: This will be used for labeling, numbering your tags, etc… .
Tagging Your Items: General: - Attach tag to the upper right when looking at the item.
- Remember hanging items must be placed on the hanger so that the opening faces the left, and looks like a question mark when facing you.
** Please keep in mind the type of fabric that you are working with. If you are unsure if the fabric will recover from having a pin though it, be better safe than sorry and place the pin in the seam. - Before you enter your items into the computer please put them in order by sex and size.
- As you enter your items into the computer, each one will be given a number (1,2,3,etc… ). This will be on your inventory list. Keeping your items in this order will make placing the tags on your items very easy.
Small Items: - Should be group together with like items and placed in a large ziplock bag.
- Seal the bag with mailing tape and pin or tape the tag to the bag.
- Please keep the tag outside of the sealed bag.
- Please write your seller ID on the back of the ziplock bags with a Sharpie Marker, just in case the tag becomes unattached.
Shoes: - Please bring only like new shoes in perfect condition.
- We will only be accepting sizes 0-13 and 1-5.
- Limit 10/consignor.
- Place shoes in a large zip lock bag together or attach them with string or yarn. Please do not bring shoes in shoe boxes as they will get lost.
- Pin the tag on the bag or on the shoe through the knot on the string or yarn.
- Be sure to include Boy/Girl and the size when entering shoes.
- Please also attach a piece of masking tape on the bottom of each shoe with your seller ID on each.
Bedding: - Bedding shows very nicely in a large comforter bag.
- Remember to include a note with all of the items that are included with the set, and maybe if it is still available, what the retail value is.
- If you have the original packaging, this is also a nice way to present bedding items.
- Blankets should be placed in plastic zip lock bags.
Toys, Furniture, and Equipment: - Large toys from Fisher Price, Step II, and Little Tykes are always in great demand.
- Please use the clear mailing tape to attach the tag to the item (scotch tape will not last the whole week).
- If you are bringing a large toy with more than one piece that cannot be attached, it is a good idea to place a piece of masking tape with your seller ID on it so that all sets will be sold together, and we will be able to sell the item if the tag comes off.
- If there are smaller pieces that can be grouped together and placed in a ziplock, attach the ziplock to the larger item with mailing tape.
- Please don’t send loose items.
- Tape all boxes shut with the clear mailing tape to be sure that everything will stay together.
- Tape the tag to the box.
- Plastic Wrap is a great way to keep those wooden puzzles together while trying to sell them.
- Group smaller items and books together in large ziplocks, and pin or tape the tag to the bag. Seal the bag closed with mailing tape. Include your seller ID on the back of the bag.
- Larger books (ones that cannot be grouped together) should have the tag carefully attached by the string on the cover of the book with mailing tape.
Pricing Help: - Please keep in mind that you are trying to make money, but if an item is priced too high it will not sell.
- All items need to be priced at a minimum of $1.00.
- Please only price items at $.50 increments ($2.00, $2.50, etc…). If needed you can group similar items together to reach the $2.00 value.
- A very general rule of thumb in consignment is that you can get about 1/3 of the retail price of the item. More or less based on the quality and condition of the item.
- Price the smaller children’s clothing items (size 2T and under) competitively, because these sizes are so abundant.
- Many shoppers do take advantage of the 1/2 price shopping day.
- You will be able to indicate if you do not want your items to go 1/2 when entering your items. Please keep items full price sparingly, so you don’t miss out.
